LFN Fall2014

Hello Everyone,

Two more days and I'm officially recovered from hip replacement!  Six weeks has been my benchmark and I'm about there.............and it ain't been bad!  Last night was our summer Christ the King reunion here and I do believe everyone had a good time :)  I've known these people for about 62 years.  YIKES!  Lots of reminiscing about grade school classmates, teachers, antics, etc.  This week Don and I do our Colorado trip----and this year it's La Junta!  We'll visit Bent's Fort which I've never seen when we get there and then Friday morning we hop on a train that follows the Old Santa Fe Trail to Albuquerque with an onboard commentary.   We'll stay the night there and then return on Saturday and drive to Peee-eblo for the night.  Maybe a visit to the Colorado State Fair or maybe head home.  Big week ahead for me as I'm also returning to my volunteer job at St. Joe's Hospital.

Good luck to Nick who is starting his new job at a DPS high school!  Nick, let us know how the first week with students goes!  Hoping all is good with you!

Love,
San

Nice picture.  All is good here.  Joanna is in N. Carolina surprising Kalee, who is playing in a tournament there.  It's in the same city that William and Ansley live in.  I am not able to remember the name of that city at this time.  Actually I will have to ask Joanna.  She will think me silly for not remembering but will tell me anyway.  I do know, however, that it IS in North Carolina.  I believe ( but am not
positively sure),  the people living in North Carolina do not like to be confused with the folks living in South Carolina.  I am not sure why I say this but I have received frosty looks from people who live in North Carolina when I mistake their home as being in South Carolina.  They seem insulted.  If not insulted, offended.  I'm thinking there is more to this than meets the eye.  I will ask Joanna about it. Interestingly enough when you mistake a South Carolina-an for a North Carolina-an they seem to puff up their shoulders and smile ever so slightly.  (I made that last part up).  Anyway, we'll talk soon.

LFN #1

Hello Everyone,

One of the enjoyable things that happened in the last few months was that we were able to spend more time with each other than we had in the recent past!  Mom was our central link and kept us up on each other's comings and goings.  I was trying to think of a way to maintain this and came up with a Lepore Family Newsletter.  I will try to send this out every week or so, and all you have to do is include your updates if you wish and "reply all".  It doesn't have to be long----let us know what's going on in your family, your job, your travels, etc.  Include pics!  I feel strongly that we try to maintain this closeness/contact.  I promised Mom that I would try to keep the family together :)

So...................what's going on!  Ulster is just about cleared out.  Probably another couple hours when the house sells and we're done!  Joanna had an Open House last Sunday and there were lots of visitors.  I know one interested couple has looked at the house three times.  Keep your fingers crossed!  I know it's been mentioned more than once that it's too pricey, but we expected that.  I have gathered up all scrapbooks, photo albums, and Christmas ornaments, and we can go through those some time when we're all here.  I spent time looking through photos---saving most, throwing away some, organizing others.  I still have a few more things to sort through.  Finally, Don and I finished our upstairs.  We had never finished hanging pictures, etc. after the carpet/painting.

If you would like anyone else included in LFN, let me know.  Hope all is good with everyone!  Hard to believe it's been more than 3 weeks since we lost Mom!  Sometimes it just hits so hard, doesn't it!

Love,
San
Thanks San.
Rob and I are trying to resume normalcy "after mom". Similar to all of you, some days  are better than others.
We are taking a short trip (to Seattle and Leavenworth) later this week.
Mom got a loving "send off" from all of us!!  She deserved it!!
Rob j had a pair of left handed, red handle garden clippers which he took from his dad's things when he  passed.  They were in the garage with some of our stuff.  Could we get those back?? - -- they are very sentimental to him. I am also missing the John Deere gas trimmer that was on top of the lawn mower. Anyone know ??

Not much with us.  Went camping in the wildness for about five days.  Absolute bliss.  Had literally a ground breaking fall while hiking the rocks landing on both knees.  Happy to say nothing happened and replaced knee now has more ROM!  Been having great ‘get togethers’ and barbeques with the neighbors...some of them crazy, other’s not so much.  Rob and Ben out all the time on dirt bikes. Getting ready to go to the lake for a ‘weekend theme’ barbeque with the big ‘boated’ folks.   New house may finally be getting a new furnace and duct work.  Found the best hidden secret in Fort Collins...a Chinese foot massage parlor...my new hobby .  Finally am working on gardens.  Like I told Lisa...in every rose;  I see mom.

Hi All,
What a lovely idea San.  Well done.
Life in Brissie has been wet and cool.  It seems it will be a wet winter for us.  Very green though.  I have been settling back into my life.  Work is good and its nice to be back and doing it again.  Chris is still away, quite a holiday he is having.  He will be back on Sat.  Matt is working at Woolies still but now only part time.  He is exploring other options and seems to want to do a trade.  A bit unsure though.  Im pretty sure that things will continue to change in this regard.  I miss Mum heaps and think of her so much.  My friend Adele (San, she was the Kiwi that you really liked) lost her Mum 4 days before Mum so we spend time together remembering, sharing a few tears and laughing at the similarities.  I guess that in times like these, it makes it more clear how much we are all alike.  I have looked at the photos from my time there many many times and have watched the short video that we took of Mum laughing at least 50 times.  It is a real treasure.  Also, the snapfish photos from Tiffany are just beautiful and bring back lovely memories of that time.
Thinking of all of you,
L
